Reach for the Stars

This is for Creative Scrappers sketch #224, I just loved working on this sketch! The little girl is my now grown Goddaughter at our wedding years ago. I have such a love for this photo,  it is one of those rare moments that are just magical and I have yet to tire of scrapping it!!

The flower is made with white cardstock and my own crazy mist mix.   I also colored the title and stars with a mixture of my own colored mists, they are so much prettier irl!  Paper is Websters.

Be Fierce!

I created this for the sketch challenge at Creative Scrapper's sketch #223. This is my great nephew impressing Auntie with his muscles! I did rotate the sketch to accommodate the vertical photo. The metallic paper behind the photo is a piece of card stock from my mist spray box it is really reflective in the photo, but it has some really cool color variations in it, and I love the way it is curled and uneven/ I made the brown flower, with a pattern from McGills. I know that the trend is to use small pictures and leave white space but that is just not my thing. i want the photo to be the focal point, after all that is the whole purpose,
(to me anyway). I have never been good at following the masses I guess!

Go Fish!

This is my Dad and Krissy playing go fish the night before our wedding (1993) It has long been a favorite picture, even tho it is out of focus. I think it just adds to the charm! I did this for the challenge at the Paper Mixing Bowl this month. The theme is family game night so I just had to scrap it! I tried to do a clean and simple LO but my shabby chic heart just coudn't resist a few shabby touches! Many thanks to the wonderful girls at the Paper Mixing Bowl for your awesome challenges, and sweet comments!

All that glitters IS gold in my scrappy world!!

Hello friends and Happy Saturday! The last few days I have been busy playing and experimenting with making my own shimmery mists and making my own flowers. It was an interesting experiment for sure and I am happy to report that it is totally possible and totally cheaper than buying it at almost $7 a bottle! If you know me, you know that I have a limited scrap budget due to my medical situation. I adore scrapping and I adore scrapping in a shabby romantic style, which requires tons of flowers ! I could literally use one months worth of flowers on a single project! So I am determined to learn to do some of this myself. Here are some of  my first ones.. they are rustic but I am gonna keep at it!

Flying Unicorn Pink Challenge

We were asked to make a background ourselves, and had to use only pink brown and white for colors. The reason I chose to use these fun photo;s wth such a soft LO was becase it is the only picture I have of myself as a child, and because my mother took me with her on a trip  I laugh as i write tht because as I write it, I am exacly the same age as my Momma was when we made that trip LOL She left my Dad and moved to California the next year. I did not feel as close to her as I did on that trip until the weeks and months before she passed away. But that is a story for another day!  I just bought a set of McGill flower making tools and the mat, so with the exception of the very tiny buds I made the flowers for this LO. The roses are a bit clumsy yet, but it is the best I have ever been able to do before! The tools and the  mat are amazing and make it so easy!

beautiful Minnie

I did this f0r the sketch challenge #222  at Creative Scrapper this month. I am very new at sketch challenges even tho I have been scrapping a long time. I am hoping that this will help me define my style and improve my work as I go along.
I did this one slightly tilted, it just looked better that way to me.  I adore her sweet smile here and the life shining ih her eyes. She is my Great Neice and we share a special bond. so this was more than a challenge, it was a labor of love!
this is a little side step card that I did tonight for a challenge at the Flying Unicorn

My Very First mixed media Canvas

I started by applying gesso. and then misting with several colors, once dried I stamped with my gorgeous script stamp; and then using some rubons. I applied an heirloom gold mist over everything once I had finshed my flower cluster, trinkets and bling.

this is what I havve spent my Saturday on! I am just over the moon for this collection!

this was done for a challenge at the Flying Unicorn, the challenge was to use a handwritten verse from mother goose, create 2 handnade embellies, and to use an image you colored by hand.
This is a banner I made for my challenge over at the Flying Unicorn. The challenge is to make a patriotic themed LO or altered project. I made it for my great nephew's birthday and also as a welcome gift for his new room, I used Athentiques's Glory, I adore it! The papers are amazing to work with!

This is a patriotic candle jar that I did for a challenge over at the Flying Unicorn this month. I used scraps from my Glory (Authentique) papers and some stars cut out on my Silhoutte Cameo0. The flowers were from a wonderful RAK won at the Flying Unicorn and are from Dusty Attic. The candle was from the dollar bin at Micheals.

I did this LO for the July challenge over a The Paper Mixing Bowl

about me

I am new at this whole blogging adventure, so please bear with me as I learn and grow. I hope to have an informative and creative blog someday! I am an avid vintage/romantic style scrapper. I have been scrapping a for several years tho I took a long break for health reasons. I am disabled with lots of free time on my  hands to scrap and play. I am very happily married to the man of my dreams and live in Minnesota.
