It was always a desire to learn to draw but I never took the time, and I certainly am not lucky enough to have a natural artist ability. When I was living in Mykonos, I had an artist friend who truly was amazing and made a fortune as a sketch artist for the tourists there. He sketched me on several occasions and I was lucky enough to receive one of those sketches, which to this day about 25 years later (OMG did I just say that!!)it is hanging on my bedroom wall. Anyway, the point to the story is that he inspired me to want to draw.. trust me to say that I have no natural talent is putting it lightly LOL~ Well since my so called early retirement, I decided I was going to explore all my artistic desires. I started with a class in floral designs, then switched to folk painting with Donna Dewberry, then stated scrap booking and paper crafting which I still love..then got brave and started to try to sketch..it was horrible.. then I found Darryl Tank, and let me tell you this guy is one incredible artist, but more than that he is an awesome teacher! I invested in a couple of his lessons and here I am .. I try to sketch daily for as long as I can sometimes hours... So here are some of my sketches .. thought it would be fun to post some before Mr. Tank's 5 pencil method and after..... </span><br />

The little girl is my now grown Goddaughter at our wedding years ago. I have such a love for this photo, it is one of those rare moments that are just magical and I have yet to tire of scrapping it!!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The flower is made with white cardstock and my own crazy mist mix. I also colored the title and stars with a mixture of my own colored mists, they are so much prettier irl! Paper is Websters.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I created this for the sketch challenge at Creative Scrapper's sketch #223. This is my great nephew impressing Auntie with his muscles! I did rotate the sketch to accommodate the vertical photo.The metallic paper behind the photo is a piece of card stock from my mist spray box it is really reflective in the photo, but it has some really cool color variations in it, and I love the way it is curled and uneven/ I made the brown flower, with a pattern from McGills. I know that the trend is to use small pictures and leave white space but that is just not my thing. i want the photo to be the focal point, after all that is the whole purpose,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(to me anyway). I have never been good at following the masses I guess!</div>

Hello friends and Happy Saturday! The last few days I have been busy playing and experimenting with making my own shimmery mists and making my own flowers. It was an interesting experiment for sure and I am happy to report that it is totally possible and totally cheaper than buying it at almost $7 a bottle! If you know me, you know that I have a limited scrap budget due to my medical situation. I adore scrapping and I adore scrapping in a shabby romantic style, which requires tons of flowers ! I could literally use one months worth of flowers on a single project! So I am determined to learn to do some of this myself. Here are some of my first ones.. they are rustic but I am gonna keep at it!amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10415719456032932108noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7394209984420489636.post-34809785907110730942012-08-22T23:22:00.001-05:002012-08-22T23:22:50.171-05:00Flying Unicorn Pink Challenge <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

We were asked to make a background ourselves, and had to use only pink brown and white for colors. The reason I chose to use these fun photo;s wth such a soft LO was becase it is the only picture I have of myself as a child, and because my mother took me with her on a trip I laugh as i write tht because as I write it, I am exacly the same age as my Momma was when we made that trip LOL She left my Dad and moved to California the next year. I did not feel as close to her as I did on that trip until the weeks and months before she passed away. But that is a story for another day! I just bought a set of McGill flower making tools and the mat, so with the exception of the very tiny buds I made the flowers for this LO. The roses are a bit clumsy yet, but it is the best I have ever been able to do before! The tools and the mat are amazing and make it so easy!amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10415719456032932108noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7394209984420489636.post-65897873727139847582012-08-19T21:54:00.002-05:002012-08-19T21:54:46.011-05:00beautiful Minnie I did this f0r the sketch challenge #222 at Creative Scrapper this month. I started by applying gesso. and then misting with several colors, once dried I stamped with my gorgeous script stamp; and then using some rubons. I applied an heirloom gold mist over everything once I had finshed my flower cluster, trinkets and bling. </div>

this was done for a challenge at the Flying Unicorn, the challenge was to use a handwritten verse from mother goose, create 2 handnade embellies, and to use an image you colored by hand.</div>amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10415719456032932108noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7394209984420489636.post-84982357344131528552012-08-05T00:10:00.001-05:002012-08-05T00:10:37.720-05:00<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is a banner I made for my challenge over at the Flying Unicorn. The challenge is to make a patriotic themed LO or altered project. I made it for my great nephew's birthday and also as a welcome gift for his new room, I used Athentiques's Glory, I adore it! The papers are amazing to work with!</div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This is a patriotic candle jar that I did for a challenge over at the Flying Unicorn this month. I used scraps from my Glory (Authentique) papers and some stars cut out on my Silhoutte Cameo0. The flowers were from a wonderful RAK won at the Flying Unicorn and are from Dusty Attic. The candle was from the dollar bin at Micheals.</span>amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10415719456032932108noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7394209984420489636.post-34927945738709453772012-07-25T16:03:00.000-05:002012-07-25T23:11:22.934-05:00I did this LO for the July challenge over a The Paper Mixing Bowl<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I did this LO for the July recipe challenge at the Paper Mixing Bowl. I used the Glory line from Authentiqe. I took the photo at my sister's in Nebraska where I spent the fourth.I stuck pretty close to the original sketch since I am very new to working with sketches.</div>amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10415719456032932108noreply@blogger.com2
